Stars Toys Studio - 1:12 Nine Tailed Fox Action Figure - League of Legends - LOL - Ahri

The other day while I was doing my regular Facebook browsing - I bump into this chinese page wherein a Figma-like promotional pictures of LOL Ahri was posted. Since the design was similar to Figma and I remembered a few years back Figma released Yasuo - I thought this was a Figma. And a few days later, I saw a friend posted orders for this Ahri - well honestly, I am not a LOL player at all - I am a DOTA2 player though. But I always liked how Ahri was designed (as well as Jynx and Katarina) so I had to ask my friend if I could still get one. And just my luck, he was able to get me one for the last minute! Thanks man!

Packaging:

As you can see, the packaging looks like a combination of a package of a 1/12 PVC Statue and a Standard Figma. Content of the package are already visible. If you can notice, Stars Toys didn't include any copyrighted name such as League of Legends, Ahri or LOL - has something to do about copyright infringement I guess - but whats the point? We all know it was Ahri anyway.

The back of the package shows different poses that you can do with the figure. The thing though it doesnt come with any manual of any sort.

And you can also notice that it bears a similar sticker on packages of Figma. The round sticker that serves as a mark that the item is sealed and it has a logo of Stars Toys too. Moving on...

CONTENT:

So, If you're planning to get one yourself here's a quick checklist for whats inside your package:

1. Ahri Figure - complete with ears hehe

2. 1 Big Orb

3. 1 Small Orb

4. 3 alternate hands (2 Open Hands, 2 Clenched Fists and 1 Open Right Hand to Hold either of the two orbs)

4. Alternate Smirking Face 

5. 2x Similar 3 Tails

6. 1 Big Middle 3 Tails

7. 1 Small Small 3 tails

ARTICULATION:

All joints are similarly same with any SHFiguarts or Figma you see, the concept is the same - both piece connected by a single jointd peg to allow movement. Ahri here by the way has neck swivel, can move her head sideways by 360 rotation, up and down. Shoulder swivel and rotation, elbow swivel and movement, wrist rotation and swivel. Ab Rotation, thigh rotation, leg movement, knee swivel and rotation and ankle movement. the tails though can only move on the point where it is connected.

VERDICT:

Apparently, for a 1/12 figure created by a third party studio this one was quite done well. Apart from the well made design and accuracy it's not as fragile as it would be. I had my fair share of Figma, SHFiguarts knock offs that uses the similar yet cheaper version of PVC materials that breaks easily and sometimes get stuck because of the incompatibility of the paint application.

This one, well slightly wobbly joints but not loose at all making the figure easier to pose.

I recommend getting the figure if you are a LOL, especially an  Ahri Fan or have a huge like on Nine Tailed Fox Characters (No, not Naruto) - hoping to see more from Stars Toys Studio!

Marvel Legends 2-Pack Series Elektra

Hi Everyone, next to out list is our female assasin Ms. Elektra Natchios.

Again, we will no longer review anything about the box and stuff -

Affiliation: Thunderbolts, Code Red, Hand, SHIELD, HYDRA, The Chaste, Heroes for Hire

Elektra was highly trained assassin and was the love interest of our boy Daredevil.

Now mainly, this Elektra is a part of Hasbro's 2-Pack series. She was set aside with Ronin [Clint Barton, Yellow variant], if what I remember is correct it's because they teamed up before. This 2-pack has a variant that includes the Skurll Elektra and the Ronin [Gold Variant]. Both Elektra and Skurll Elektra shares the same body mold and weapons except the color of their skin and the mold of their heads. And Elektra includes an alternate head without the bandana.

Well, I got Elektra from a friend in which he took the weapons as a part of the agreement to give it cheap to me - but in my luck I managed to find a 2pack Skrull Elektra with Ronin in a near mint condition.

Now, in comparison with the Toybiz Elektra there is a huge difference. The Toybiz Elektra is still an awesome figure and can still serve as a placeholder if you don't have this 2-pack. But why I would still recommend the 2-pack is because despite the lack of articulation in terms of design this looks better.The weapons are  bigger than the old one and having the two alternate hands to hold it sideways made it better. One thing that isn't good is although in terms of body proportion this was much better than the unproportion toybiz female body - it lacks poseability. But I still suggest it, although i feel that in the near future hasbro may remake this figure with an updated body mold that they use today.

The Man without Fear

Hi Everyone, welcome to our first Marvel Legend Superhero Netflix Series Comic Version that this tag is too long - the man without fear, Daredevil.

We will no longer review about the box and stuff since I already threw them away and lets focus on the Action Figure Itself. But first let's give our hero a little bio.

Name: Matthew Murdock [Earth-616]

Alias: Daredevil

Occupation: Lawyer by Day
Affiliation: New Avengers, Defenders, Nelson and Murdock, SHIELD, Marvel Knights, Hand

Daredevil was never born blind. He was blinded as a child when he save a man walking towards an incoming truck and accidentally spilled a radioactive isotope resulting with his blindness. But this blindness heighten his other senses to a superhuman level.

In one of the version of Daredevil, he wasnt actually blind. He can see an infrared like vision that looks like burning hell.

To give this a better review, let's use another Daredevil figure that we once loved right before when this new Daredevil came months ago.

Before that, if you are asking what is the best Daredevil Marvel Legends Figure - it should have been the Nemesis Series Daredevil that comes in the First Appearnce Version and Classic Red in which I don't have both.

This new Daredevil [left] comes in close with the generic bucky cap mold in which in my opinion indeed has awesome articulation. From head swivel to ankle pivot but in comparison with this old smc Daredevil [right], this old one still has the most and this one shares the same body as the series 6 Deadpool.

But when it comes to articulation, both of them still is poseable. It's jsut that this new bucky mold Daredevil is better because it won't give you that awkward armpit look when you raise his hands unlike the SMC Daredevil.

One thing that I wished that the New Daredevil [left] had was the same paint wash, and added texture on the body. Yes, indeed the color was good that they made it in a blood red color and the light orange variation on the gloves but it's too plain. Even the DD logo is awful comapreed to the DD logo on the SMC.

The weapon too ain't so bad, and this was used already in ML figures like Hellcat and Mocking Bird but what was bad is its too wide that it looks like a long colored white hotdog.

Anyway, the overall figure wasn't so bad - in geeky scale i think the height is still not accurate - but in terms of uniformity. I suggest you get this one and updated your Marvel Legends display with this one.:)

Note: This new Daredevil Figure also comes in it's First Appearance Version which was released as a Walmart Exclusive. This one comes in an alternate Matt Murdock Head which apparently just a repainted RR Series Modern Hawkeye.

Hasbro 3-Pack Series Collector's Edition: Ms. Marvel, Captain America, Radioactive Man

Probably the most riskiest thing I have done so far and yes I won't do this again - spending a lot for 3 figures. Unlike in other countries - items like this comes hard and expensive here so I had to save a lot If I wanted to have one. But I was to eager to have Ms. Marvel so bad that I took out some money from my savings. For the upcoming series, I guess the main target would be Scarlet Witch only since yes, I don't think I can afford it any longer and as soon as I got a few I have to cut some figures off - anyway, enough of the private stuff. Our Next post for today is Marvel's 3-Pack Collector's Edition by Hasbro released this year of 2014 and consists of 3 heroes, namely: Ms. Marvel [Warbird - Carol Danvers], Captain America [Ultimate? - Steve Rogers] and Radioactive Man.

One of the few things Hasbro is good at is, one they are good at giving out High Quality Teasers which makes the figures look good that it makes you wanna lock your wallet until it arrives. Next, the new Hasbro Infinite Series are packed in pretty neat boxes like this one - looks special huh? And althogh a little off, details are now changed and a lot more better in terms of proportionality. Hasro managed to create a female heroes with a decent detail unlike toybiz who created the anorexic Scarlet Witch and Petite Emma Frost - don't get me wrong, I like Toybiz Male Heroes.

Radioactive Man - Dr. Chen Lu was a nuclear physicist and communist agentin the People's Republic of China - was ordered to find a way to defeat Thor - Dr. Lu exposed himself to a small dose of radiation until he is able to endure a massive barrage, and becomes a living radiation and calls himself "Radioactive Man". This radiation gave him the ability to manipulate radiation all through out. Also a known member of the People's Defense Force, Thunderbolts, Masters of Evil and Titanic Three. So by Far, the details for Radioactive Man was pretty accurate since their are not much of a detail to emphasize. Although, from what I remember the logo on his chest should have yellow. And it has this cool green translucent effect. But by far, the whole mold was a recycle of other molds from previous Marvel Legends that Hasbro has released. This is actually a combination of SDCC's Luke Cage Body and I think Drax head. Then recoloured and changed to clear phasing like plastic. So more or less Hasbro did it again, re-using other molds. Well it did fit so the only problem here is movements and articulation was not that good specially on the legs because the skirt like thing around his waist blocks it's movements.

The next figure was the good ol' Captain America, Steve Rogers - yes, another Captain America. It really sucks that they had to create "Another" Captain America wherein there are so many more heroes and villains that hasn't got the reboot or doesn't even have a figure yet. And the original plan was I buying the set, Get Ms. Marvel and sell Radioactive Man and Captain America but I thought I needed Radioactive Man since this is the first Radioactve Man figure and found out that these Captain America has an awesome lower body articulation in which feels like the old figures from toybiz. And if ever you are wondering I think this is a new version of the Ultimate Captain America that has been released and has a smaller holster thingy like vest and the Swap head that looks like Commander Steve Rogers . The shield is similar to the Marvel Now! Movie Captain America but the back is coloured grey instead of Red. The problem I encountered was the shield was broken when I took it off the box and I had to do some fixing using putty since it won't stick usng the glue I use. And it won't fit just like any other shield, I find it hard to fit on the arms of Captain America. Probably the only thing I like in the figure was the similar boint joint articulation in his legs which gives highly poseable poses.

So there you go, 2-figures that are basically good but not worth having since they robably not the ones you are looking for.

The Hype - the reason I did get this after all was it's all because of Carol Danvers aka Warbird also known as Ms. Marvel. Prior to that, there was already an existing Warbird from Toybiz Giant Man Series which actually was pretty rare now a days and cost a lot more than usual. The Toybiz Version already has a great articulation but to much to your dismay the face detail was a little off. Before that who is Ms. Marvel anyway? Ms. Marvel also known as Binary or Warbird was a human fused of the alien Kree Captain Marvel after being caught in an explosion. Although Captain Marvel saved hher life, Danvers sustain serious injuries but was able to gain superhuman strength, speed, stamina and durablity. She also learned the ability to project energues and absorb - and of course flight. Known member of the Avengers but also a member of the US air Force, NASA, SHIELD, X-Men, Defenders for a Day, Starjammers, Operation: Lightnng Storm and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Let's begin, apparently this is another obviously recycled figure from Hasbro. You might be saying, or maybe not - what figure? Remember SDCC Thunderbolts, the one with Moonstone and of course Luke Cage which has a similar body with Radioactive Man that I stated a while ago - yes, this is the same Moonstone that has been recoloured to create Ms. Marvel. Well, for the body part since from all the female mold that hasbro did - the Moonstone body was by far the best in terms of movements and proportioanality. What's bad was Moonstone and this Ms. Marvel's head are the same - yes, the same. Search for Moonstone and you'll see that from the Hair colour down down to her face it was the same. I don't disagree by any of it by the chance I did like it since It fits the figure itself - and it was by far awesome! The problem is if Hasbro keeps creating figures using other characters mold then why don't they just release everything? They are using the same mold anyway and the uniqueness is somehow gone. Imagine putting Moonstone and Ms. Marvel together and non-comic book fans will say "Is this her?" or "Are they twins?". Moving On, the usual Hasbro release where only good at teasers it took me awhile to pick the one with the bestest paint and this is the bestest one I could get. Overall, it nice to finally have a new Ms. Marvel since the Toybiz one aside from being expensive and rare it doesn't have the sexy mold and awesome face such as this.

Toybiz Marvel Legends Galactus Series Dr. Strange

Doctor Stephen VIncent Strange also known as Dr. Strange - a member of various team such as the Defenders, The Order, Midnight Sons, New Avengers and the Illuminati and serves as the Sorcerer Supreme - the primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats. Known abilites are his Mastery of magic, a genius-level intellect, a skilled neurosurgeon and believe it or not a trained martial artist.

Dr. Strange is included Galactus Wave by Toybz and includes Galatcus right arm. Probably , both him and Xavier was the most must have figure in the wave. Just like Xavier picture out Dr. Strange's comic look and you'll probably see that this one is accurate too. What actually bad was the probable height was a little small and of course those hands that stays on the rock on! position was already bad. And aside from you can't change those hands, both left and right are on those positions.

The Cape was made of soft rubber in which most toys who need a lot of clothing on their appearance has. Wonders why Toybiz didn't use a cloth instead just like on the old ML Gambit. Whatsbad about the rubber coat is it's too heavy for the figure to carry and obviously too big.

Well anyway, even without the coat Dr. Strange looks cool, rocking cool! The figure itself aint half bad in terms of movements but since the cape was too heavy and was too big it makes it less poseable.

And since it's the onlye Dr. Strange ML figure in the market I guess he will do for now - and let's hope hasbro did it better not just in pics.

Toybiz Marvel Legends Rider Series Wonderman

The next in line is Wonderman, yes the Talented Actor Simon Williams. Probably only a few know who he is but yes, he is a member of the various teams of the Avengers and what is his power? Well aside from being a talented actor, an electrical engineer, industrialist and stuntman he is also Ionic-energy empowered, has flight, extended life span, Superhuman strength, speed, stamina, agility, reflexes, and durability and virtual invulnerability. Change your mind about him? a lot of people think he is gayish since his alias was "WONDER" - admit it the first character that comes in your mind when the word wonder is involved is the queen of the amazon herself, Wonderwoman.

Wonderman was included in Series 11: Rider Series in which iincludes a red hover scooter which I no longer included and thrown away over the scraps in the random fodder box in my room and a small Yellow Jacket.

Not much of a figure though, articulation was well great but seems pretty normal. Though a little hunchback and has a hard time folding between the ribs.

The details was ok, but being a big strong guy - he does look like a little small and his head is a little small. Well, a reboot of this might be a little while since he is not hype yet but hoping that someday more people know who Simon Williams is.

Toybiz Marvel Legends Apocalypse Series Iron Fist

For our next Marvel Figure - let's go back to Kun-Lun to meet Daniel "Danny" Rand aka The Iron Fist. Iron Fist is commonly seen with his Heroes for Hire partner Luke Cage aka Power Man Well, same as the Luke Cage figure this was based on their retro apperances which can be recognized on those large collared shirts. For the fact that Hasbro did released the SDCC Thunderbolt Luke Cage that we all hope be released individually they are now planning to release a new Iron Fist taht is scheduled to be included in the upcoming Odin Wave Series. Well before this figure fades out and be forgotten in the toy chest, let's give it hsi own highlight.

In term of details, the figure itself was indeed accurate. Maybe because unlike the other heroes who has complicated designs, Danny here has one of the simplest attire you can make for a hero. But in terms of proportinaility it does look like it hass an elongated torso or such but still it was accurate enough to be unnoticed.

Left - Iron Fist, Right - Luke Cage. What seems to be weird here is noticed Luke Cage's hand? Ever wondered why he has a karate chopping hand? For some reason, I don't know either but Iron fist has the same set of hands which kinda fits him in a kind of way.

The series also has an existing H'ylthri Duplicate Variant [Red] which I posted a couple of months ago. And a few differences can be identified aside from the colour - it has a much more fiercer look because of the opened mouth and let's not forget - some collectors always thought this was a damaged in the production but no it does have a little bumpkin in his head.

Having both of them aint bad since it was explained that they are different Iron Fist. And for the figure having such an awesome articulation it good to play with - just don't play wiith it too much since loosening joints is too prone.

Well a high five for being such a great, cheap figure! I hope the incoming new version of this became much greater!

Marvel Legends - Custom - X-Force Psylocke Re-Coloured by Prisz

So, I haven't stop and won't stop! Until I finally learned the ways of those professional customizers. This will be my third try and yes I did focus on building my own X-Force team. The first two I created was X-Foce X23 - the first one as see over this link which was created during a storm and the second one can be seen over this link which was created out of pure interest. And for my third try I'll be recolouring the old Marvel Legend Psylocke to turn into her X-Force uniform. I was actually thinking of the Marvel now Psylocke but I lack information about it so the X-Force Uniform has to push through.

So Basically, I named this Project - "Project Psylocke" - wonder why? The dumbest thing I actually did was I edited the figure while it was still in it's tight joint condition. I got the Psylocke Figure in MOC Condition well no doubt I'll open it but the dumb part was I used it on it's tight joint condition. Well the damage was done so, I had to look for a loose figure of her.

So the first thing I actually did was to took off the head - the original plan was to coat it without breaking it apart aside from the head and use tapes to cover parts for the details.

Well the outcome was bad. Some parts wasn't covered by the paint leading to a bad paintjob - although the head was almost ok. The Hair wasn't change because I might find it hard to repaint the dashes of purple.

So the only choice - disassemble the figure that took me an hours just to break the torso apart. Arms and Legs was easier to pull out jsut remember to soften them with hot water or blow them with hair dryers.

Then paint each part one by one. Adding details in the head and adding a scrap sword from the scrap bootleg Figma BRS that I have. Adding the red paint in the her stash instead of using white. The original X-Force design has a white sash but I decided to use red instead.

Then remold the Right Arm by cutting them into three separate parts and add a tiny amount of epoxy to make it able to hold the sword.

Then drying and airing them for awhile depending on what paint you'll use. Then making sure no joints are destroyed because of excess paints.

Test to fit if they still blends in with each other.

Then clearing everything before you permanently glue evrything. Adding more details - originally I was planning to add a little weathering effect but I decided not to since I failed over the details in the face.

Then Gluing everything.

Then there you go, my recoloured X-Force Psylocke. Not accurate and I still have a problem over the joints wherein paints are chipped everytime it's moved.

Although I am proud though taht I was able to succesfully make it hold the scrap katana.
